 Yamaha 20 Clarinet
Author: lazydayse

A friend suggested I look for a used Yamaha 20 clarinet. Is this a decent beginning instrument? Any advice or suggestions? Also, is a Vandoran B45 a good mouthpiece? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Yamaha 20 is an excellent beginner instrument. I would not go with the Vandoren B45 though. It's too chancy. Start with either a Fobes Debut or a Hite Premiere.

Second the Fobes debut mouthpiece recommendation. Excellent and best buy. Shop carefully for a used Yamaha 20-there should be plenty out there to choose from. Chances are likely that you will have to reserve some $ for a technician to do some repads, keycorks, and possible tenon corks.
