Holy Cow. I stopped by my mailbox on the way to ww5 practice tonite and found my new M30. It was destined to go to Lee Livengood to be refaced to compare it to his usual Zinner blank based mouthpieces.
WELL, I used at the rehearsal, and its a completely different animal than the "other M30" I've Been fighting with for the last 14-months. I guess this just reinforces the need to try more than one of most mouthpieces. The difference is astounding. I've tried pairs of mouthpieces from some of the better makers, and found them very, very similar. I have been unable to distinguish between two mouthpieces from Speigelthal, Grabner, Genusa.
Tomorrow I'll give it a beating over the high notes in some of the Kroepsch exersises and see if it works up there --where the "other M30" won't.

Mine is very nice as well, but I don't use it any more, because it is horribly out of tune. This is the problem with ordering mouthpieces, rather than trying them yourself or ordering them from a place where you can have somebody pick the best one for you.
I love playing it, but I just can't keep switching between it and the one I use for ensemble playing, so I don't use it anymore.

I've had good tuning results with my M30/13 on a Buffet R13. Its better than a zinner blank 'piece I've got.

What intonation issues? Can I assume overall flatness or sharpness? Which M30 do you have, the 13 Series or the non 13 Series?
