a simple search would bring up a hundred mouthpiece threads on this bboard.

That being said, I play a vandoren B40 because it has the tone of the B45 but with softer reeds.

I have a half dozen or so, but keep returning to the 5RV because it works the best for me.
Reed: Legere 2.5; Clarinet: Selmer Recital.

Playing Grabner AW-personal mouthpiece with no.3.25 Gonzalez FOF reeds on Buffet Festival Bb and Buffet R-13 prestige A clarinets. Grabner is the best in the world. I have never played on anything more reed friendly and so easy to control. He is also very nice to communicate with through email. After I switched to the AW I can now play almost every reed from the box and about 8 are concert performing quality. Before I could use maybe 7-8 from the box and maybe 4-5 would be concert performing quality.

There are indeed hundreds of 'setup' posts on this site. But the question 'why?' can be quite interesting.

I play B45 dot because it gives me the best sound. It's a pig to drive, in that it always lives (for me) on the edge of overblowing. Keeping it in check is exhausting, mentally and physically. But nothing else I've played will cut the mustard... none of my others will shine through a brass band and yet remain refined in the quiet of the practice room.

Hundreds?? More like a few thousand [wink]

Most, unfortunately are merely posted for justification and acceptance by others...GBK

I change mouthpieces like a trumpet player. Right now I'm playing a Meazzi crystal mouthpiece. Why? Very quick response, a smooth, dark, liquid clarion register, and I got it for nothing 20 years ago from a professional friend who went to Milano and came home with two.
Oh. And it plays great with a Rovner ligature.
