Hello
From looking at Australian band information, I notice that a lot of senior bands require clarinet players to have at least Grade 4 AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) playing level.
Could somebody please tell me what skills are involved at Grade 4 level for clarinet. I am a self-taught clarinettist, however, I have completed Grade 5 Theory Of Music and Grade 7 Piano (AMEB) in the past ... so my skills in this area are quite good.
Thanks.
Regards,
Noelene

Get the AMEB Syllabus from your local music shop and see what pieces are listed in this Grading ... not very advanced in my view.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

The technical part is probably the most difficult aspect of this (or any AMEB) exam.
A good idea would be to by the AMEB technical work book. It has a green cover. If you can play through the fourth grade part of this the rest of the exam should be no problem.

Thanks, guys! I will give the set music a whirl. A couple of people I have since asked (who I know through my intermediate band) and also teach tell me that I should find the Grade 4 work quite easy. Hopefully, this will be the case. Intermediate band has become too easy for me and I am finding it quite boring so am hoping to find a senior band to move into. More of a challenge for me, so to speak.

Noelene
