 Hi,

I have a good friend that is getting back to the clarinet after many years of a professional career. This person is a mature adult that was accepted as a graduate student of Marcellus at Northwestern many years ago but chose medical school instead (not too hard a choice now was it).

Anyhow, my pal has been an acting principal in a local orchestra and has studied with orchestra pros before so performance and playing credentials are excellent; there is a "little rust on the pipes."

What is needed is a teacher, somewhere in Big Sky Country, the Upper Great Plains, or the West that could work with this player on a monthly basis to help get the chops back. San Diego would work as well since that is a frequent military reserve duty station. Travel to other locations by air is a possibility for an intense series of lessons.

Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas? My friend is a self-starter but just needs an experienced and guiding hand to help in the coming months. I said “get out Rose and Baermann III for starters” but a seasoned and supportive teacher will be needed very soon.

If you’d like to discuss this by email, my address is in My Profile.

Thanks,

HRL
