Hi Folks,
I have received from my grandfather a Buffet's S-1 F#130xxx (Paris, 1972) as bequest. I am looking for infos about such model (price, quality, tone ...) and some advices so as to maintain it.
Thanks in advance for your reply and Kind Regards,
Eiffel

I recently did some investigating on the S-1 after seeing one for sale, although I didn't have a chance to play it. Search the archives here - you will find some people love it, while others prefer the bore dimensions of the more common R13 and it's derivatives. Personal taste aside, it's definitely a professional quality instrument. I believe they were made only in the early 70s.
Enjoy,
Joanne

I overhauled an S1 A in late 2003 (mostly in leather) with nickel plated keys, serial no. 1429xx. It had quite a full, weighty tone, not as bright as an R13.
