The librarian passed out Prokofiev's Overture on Hebrew Themes but in an arrangement for full orchestra. The music doesn't say who did the arrangement and I was not aware that Prokofiev arranged this piece. ¿Does anyone have any info on this?

This may not be what you're asking for, but get a recording if you can. The CBC has played this on rare occasions and it's fairly fast, but the recording they play is very interesting in its tempo changes. The piece makes much more sense when hearing it with accompaniment than playing it solo.

Written in 1919 as a chamber piece, Prokofiev arranged the work for orchestra in 1934...GBK

Prokofiev's Overture on Hebrew Themes has been discussed frequently on the Klarinet board, where the origin of the themes, the correct title, the orchestral transcription and the proper style for performanc have been worked out in great detail. Go to the Search screen, check the box for the Klaarinet Mailing List Archives and search on the word Hebrew.
