 Pan-American mouthpieces?
Author: melbassoon

I have a Conn Pan-American Special clarinet with no mouthpiece. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or, is there an adapter? I'm not planning on any serious playing, I'm just curious about how it sounds before I turn it into a lamp.

Clarinets are seldom played (for long) with original mouthpieces. Feel free to experiment with any mouthpiece you can get your hands on. Make sure you have the right strength reed for the mouthpiece you select. If you are unsure about anything I've said, then find a clarinet player at a local school and ask them to try it out for you with their mouthpiece.

BTW, the Pan American was Conn's "second" line. Unless it is one of the unusual looking light wood-grained models, it really isn't a "keeper". And if it is, it's a "keeper", but not really a "player". Those models have some collector interest, but I don't know of any Pan American clarinets that really played well.
