Allocations just went up at college for the next orchestra project which is Stravinsky - The Rakes Progress, and I as put on 1st. It has some extraordinarilly difficult solo passages at fast tempo's and I was wondering if anyone who has performed this can offer any advice on getting them under the fingers. The first thing that comes to mind is slow practise with a metronome, but I'm wondering if there are any tricks to playing the fast solo's in F# major etc etc... Thanks!

I played this piece many years ago and a solo in Ab major in arpeggio figures comes to mind. Here you have to slide with the left pinky from Ab5 to side C5 a number of times. The tempo is quite fast and not easy. For a while I tried to practice to finger Ab xxo/xxo but went back to sliding since it worked better in the end. Other than that, keep on practicing slowly with a metronome as you said. Solid technique is better than shortcuts after all.
