Hi, I have a HP (high pitch) instrument and would like it to be standard pitch. Are there longer barrells available to purchase that I could use for this purpose?

 Thanks,
 Eric

 Eric,
A longer barrel will get some of your notes in tune. If you tune the throat tones then the notes at the bottom of the horn will still be sharp... progressively so as you descend the horn. If you tune notes at the bottom of the horn by adding length at the barrel then as you ascend the horn towards the throat tones the pitch should progressively get more and more flat.

Have fun... why not try to add a longer barrel, a ring in the middle and one at the bell. Then you can have a gay time trying to lip all the notes around for fine tuning into pitch.

Here's another thought... why not get another horn to play and make yourself a high pitch lamp?

 Cheers, Terry

Terry's analysis is correct. That is the reason there are so many HP instruments for sale, and their resale prices are so low...GBK

 Hi,
H.P. horns are pitched at A=456. If you set your tuner to A=440 you will find your horn comes out between B and Bb. This horn will not play Bb at A=440 without major surgery. I have one, and it sounds great but, it can only be used alone (with no other Bb clarinets), but if you are the only clarinet or are playing solo, I say go for it.

 Regards
 Mark
