 altissimo (sorry can't spell)

i play a tenor sax i and i have look at the fingering charts on this site and i have tried the ones for the altissimo range and none of them seem to work is there something i do wrong? i can get up to a F or F# in the ledger lines above the treble clef but no higher. Do i need to change my embouchure, do i need to pinch (which makes you sound like a kazoo) or what? do i need a harder or softer reed?

from what I can remember from saxophone ( I played tenor saxophone a while back) Altissimo G (aka four lines above the staff) is a really nasty harmonic to hit. The A above that is supposed to be easier to hit and you should start there, and work your way down, or up, whichever the case may be. As far as embouchure goes, you should never conciously bite, regardless the register. Your embouchure should always remain open, just like in the lower registers, to produce a true tone. You will have to have a lot more air *support* to produce these harmonics, as they require a great deal of air *pressure* to keep them going. Concerning reeds, a harder reed may allow you to better achieve the high notes, but you don't want to sacrifice tone in the rest of the lower registers. Choose a reed that allows you to be consistent throughout all registers, and this will be the reed that will allow you to get those harmonics.

You should practise the altissimo versions of High E and High F first before attempting High G. These are:

E: T f -23 | ---

F: T f -2- | ---

You will have to change your embouchure to get these to work. Use the same (new) embouchure for all the other altissimo notes.
