Would like to know of any web sites for the complete flute beginner. Also some good begining books. I have been playing for about two weeks and can get a desent tone from low D to D3. I can not get the low C though. I will just keep practicing. Thanks

Alice,
Sounds like you are doing great. Don't feel bad about low C. It take a very relexed embouchure that will develop in time.
Web sites:
The first will get you to many other flute sites.
http://www.teleport.com/~fluter
http://www.flutemaker.com/book/book.htm
Books:
Rubank Selected Duets Vol. 1 by H. Voxman
Sixty-five Little Pieces by Louis Moyse
Exceptional Classics for Flute, Violin and Recorder
Maybe books from the Trevor Wye series
You can check the Flute World web site for ordering books. They used to have pieces graded by level of difficulty.
http://www.fluteworld.com
It depends on the type of music you want to play, e.g., classical, popular or ethnic. Find simple tunes, and proceed to more advanced stuff when you can play the simple.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I've been playing the flute for nearly 10 years and have started teaching in the past 2 years. A really good book for beginners of the flute is Learn as you play the flute
