Only advanced models of oboes will possess a third octave key. It is operated by the left hand thumb and is right above the first octave key on the back of the oboe on the top joint. Just for reference, the second octave key is on the side of the top joint and is operated by the side of the second left hand finger.

What kind of oboe do you play?? Only the proffesional models have 3rd octave keys. The key would be slightly above the regular octave key.
