I'm a bassoon player, not half-bad either ( ) Anyway, I have a thing against the upper octave Bb. It always seems off tune or unsteady. Have any tips for me? I really appreciate it!!!!

What "level" of bassoon do you have?(meaning the initial quality, so: beginner, intermediate,or professional) If it's a beginner bassoon, that's probably one of the reasons. On lower level instruments, they tend not to tune the higher registers, because they figure that the students won't play in that range. Another problem could be air leaks(the pads that seal the holes), or alignment of the keys on the instrument. Take it in to a licensed repair/instrument/WOODWIND shop. A trick to find out if it is a good repair shop, is to see what kind of instruments they sell; if it's a bunch of beginner models, like jupiter, or yamaha, consider taking it somewhere else, especially if you have a intermediate to professional bassoon.
