is it true that once you know one of the clarinets (of Eb, Bb, Alto, Bass, Contrabass etc) that you'll also know the others in the family?

The fingerings are generally the same, with some variation (this site has a separate fingering chart for the lower clarinets). However,even knowing the fingerings it still takes some practice time to get used to the different size of the mouthpiece and spacing of your fingers.

And with the different mouthpiece comes knowing how tight or loose to make one's embouchure.
