does any one know how to get really good at viborato in 2 weeks before aditions for top band!!!

good vibrato in two weeks. sounds like an advertisement. 2 weeks is a very short time and which instrument are you talking about? if it's a single reed, you can oscillate your lips vertically, NEVER horizontally. also you can use your diaphragm to effect the stream of air and give vibrato, this can also be used on a flute. on a double reed though, i am more unsure of. i know diaphragm works, but any other techniques i do not know. vibrato sounds aweful for the first while you start practising this technique, but after a while and tinkering, it sounds beautiful. hope this helps.

its not impossible, but in 2 weeks nothing will seem to work out naturally. diaphragm vibrato is the best prefered method for ALL instruments. but it is also affected by what style of music or the different interpretation applied. what instrument do you play? and yes, diaphragm vibrato definitely works for the oboe.

so anyways i quoted this, hope it helps:
first and formost there must be sufficient understanding that your current control of tone quality, projection and intonation has reached a certain level of achievement, otherwise, it is not recommended that you learn vibrato because it requires a not only a strong support of air but also a very clear mind when done.
the aim of vibrato is to basically add warmth to sound.
sometimes intensity. so the use is quite subjective, but at last it must be natural. the first step is to experiment on vowels. using the movement of the throat, as in play the simplest long tone on the flute, say a middle B. then add vowels in between, without separating anything, as in HAH or HOH. Then, try to accomplish this in a rhythmic sort of way. Consult your band director and see if it sounds natural.
Next the difficult part comes in. Try and play the B again.
This time, without using the vowels, try and alter the pitch (lower the B) by levelling the amount of support in the diaphragm. In a very slow pace play a normal B, a flatter B, a normal B, a flatter B vice versa in a slow minim pattern, then slowly increase the velocity. This should be the kind of vibrato that we are looking for.
this is as an exercise. so REMEMBER, VIBRATO WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IF IT DISGUISES BAD INTONATION, CHANGES PITCH TOO DRASTICALLY, OR SOUNDS INTENDED OR PULSATED.
of course for full reference of true vibrato application i suggest you try Trevor Wye's flute practise books in 6 editions. Incredible book for flute. Must try!

If you're in middle school, you shouldn't really need vibrato yet. If you're dying to have it, though, then call up a private teacher and aim to have great vibrato by the end of the school year.
Keep in mind that not all instruments use vibrato -- clarinet doesn't. Also, you must be able to control vibrato, because you won't use it all the time.
Seeing as you only have two weeks, it would be much better to go into your audition playing beautifully and in control with a straight tone than not as well and out of control with poorly attempted vibrato. Band directors want to see good, basic tone, solid rhythm and pitch, and good musicality more than they want to see vibrato or other extras.
