What instrument are you talking about because both the clarinet and the sax have a register called the altissimo? I hope I spelled altissimo right. Anyway on the clarinet there is sometimes considered the upper and lower altissimo register. The lower, high c sharp to the second g above the staff, and the upper altissimo, the second g sharp and further in to the stratosphere. To play the lower altissimo notes on the clarinet you just need to have a tight embouchure. Sometimes holding your clarinet more vertical helps but you should try to just have a tight embouchure. The upper altissimo on the clarinet requires a tight embouchure but sometimes you can cheat and have a loose embouchure and the notes will ¡®over blow¡¯ up to the higher pitches ¡®by themselves¡¯. Of course you may need to be a little experienced before you can do this. On to the saxophone. I don¡¯t play sax. I imagine it should ¡®similar¡¯. I hope this helps. Now that I just finished typing this i see that your name is CaramelSax. You ARE talking about the saxophone. haha that 's so funny!! Oh well maybe my clarinet info will help or somebody else.

Try playing up the reed. It works for me. Try to just move your jaw foward a bit, or just use more of the whole mouth peice. you will need to apply a fair bit of pressure to begin with. It should get a little easier if you keep practising it. Its also important to find a fingering that works for your instrument. Most of the ones for 'G' didn't work for me, so I had to spend some time finding a good one.
hope this helps.

ACTUALLY......it is quite different from clarinet and the misconception of tight embouchure for everything high is all so commonly wrong. Not only is it painful but also damaging.
Refer this for more info:

hope this will help you.

Best thing to do is take lessons for a while from a knowledgeable teacher.

Try squeeking, like when you are a little kid and you squeek.... it's pretty much the samething but you squeek notes. and biting also helps, your lip should hurt a lot after you are done playing altissimo notes. out of curiosity are you playing Glazounov.?
