hi every one, i bought a helmke f sharp saxophone a couple of weeks ago. i have been out of the music game for a while and buying the sax in this key was a mistake. i am trying to reteach myslef how to play and i realized when i picked up some learning books that i bought the wrong key to learn now my question is, are all fingerings for saxophones are the same? Help!!!

Er, I think you have your wires crossed. There's no such thing as a saxophone pitched in 'F#'. There are saxophones that *have* a high F# key, which is what you are probably dealing with. You are dealing with a horn pitched in Eb or Bb, and yes, all saxophones have the same basic fingerings from low Bb to High F

Duh. Except to say JfW, that there's the optional Low A key, extending (at least the Barri's) range from A to...well, there's no roof on any sax.
