Hey
I play the flute and i'm playing this piece that is really leghatto and soft. i keep having trouble with these four 8th notes. the first two are slurred and the last 2 are tongued. my teacher said i need to play the last 2 smoothly. I keep trying but it still comes out tongued and choppy. How can i make is sound leghatto and lightly tongued??

Hello, Jenna. The most important thing that you should remember to play leghatto and soft is to blow lots of air with good embouchure. The flute's mouthpiece should be parallel to your lips. Playing in front of a mirror and fixing the embouchure is the most effective way.
When you normally tongue, you simply pronounce 'tu' with good air support. To have good air support, you have to do abdominal breathing (ask your teacher about this, and your teacher can help you). Playing leghatto, however, requires much more air control and tonguing that is like 'du.' I hope this helps you. Ask everything and get help from your flute teacher.
