I just got a call to do this show. I know nothing about the show or the music. It looks like I will be the only reed player. Can anyone give me any info on the show or the reed books? Thanks.

Well, I just finished the show. The music was really, really good! I's rare for me when I first hear the music to a show that I really like it. Grand Hotel was different. I ended up extracting all the important reed stuff from books 2, 3 and 4 and putting them into Reed 1. I even got to play a few nice English horn solos.
I was surprised to learn that GH was a flop (twice) on Broadway. I'm sure the show's composers were surprised that their music didn't become widely known. It's really good.
