I do a bari sax gig once a year and I am in need of a ligature. I know last time I did the job, the ligature I used was too small. I am not really a sax player, so I do not invest time, energy or money into equipment, but I have noticed there is a great disparity in sizes of bari sax mouthpieces. I would like a ligature that at least "fits" my mouthpiece. I have an old George Bundy #3 mouthpiece. It seems quite "fat", certainly larger than the bari mouthpieces I see at the local music store. I am looking for smething that is going to fit, and would prefer something as inexpensive as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to take the mpc to your favorite music store & go through a box of cheap ligatures and find one that fits. Barring that, you can always tie the reed onto the mouthpiece with a shoestring (Really. I'm not joking).

Velcro also works nicely. And I'm not joking, either--my sax prof once did a gig that way when his lig broke before the concert. He was pleasantly astounded and suggested that everyone in his sax studio try it, too.

Look for a bass sax ligature. It might fit the mouthpiece you have. Rovner makes one. Start by googling bass sax ligature.
