Two people (an English horn player and an instrument tech who knows the English horn player) have suggested/hinted that my favorite bocal might be a Symer bocal. Apparently, Symer put no distinguishing marks on his bocals. I selected the bocal from over a half dozen sent to me by the person who sold me my English horn, who posts here under the moniker "heckelmaniac." I prefer this bocal over the Tom Hiniker bocal that I also chose. Is there any way of finding out if my favorite bocal is in fact a Symer bocal?
It doesn't really matter too much if I know; my chances of finding another Symer bocal if I ever ruin/lose this one are slim. But I fantasize about acquiring the technical know-how to make identical copies of this one, and I'd like to know if I could call such a thing a "copy of a Symer bocal."
