dear oboists,
While vacationing in France I obtained an old Lorée oboe, from the AA series. The keywork resembles that on the thumb plate models from about a century ago, but this oboe lacks a thumb plate! The C and Bb are fingered by touching a side key with the right hand (like on Triébert system 3-type oboes), although one side key controls both notes. Did Lorée (or anyone else) make more models with this keywork? was it a transition between 19th-century systems and the thumb plate oboe? Any information you can supply concerning this curious instrument will be much appreciated!
thanks and best wishes
Kevin
