Greetings!
I am trying to identify this old oboe for the purpose of finding a fingering chart that might help me to play it. I learned to play the oboe on a modern oboe (conservatoire system?), but translating the fingering between that and this guy is maybe like 70%.
As far as I can tell, this is an old German oboe (systeme 5?). It has a smaller neck than modern oboes, is clearly missing some automatic keys, and lacks a low B flat. It's about the same length as a modern oboe for what that's worth. It is made of a beautiful blackish-burgundy wood that's in fairly decent condition. I would estimate that this oboe is at least 120 years old... Also, and maybe I am not using the proper reed for this oboe, but it is way louder than what I am used to as well...
The only indication of its identity (other than the keying) is the "GERMANY" engraving nearer to the bell.
