Hello,
I would like advice on shopping for an oboe and knowing where to look. I've made it through college as an oboe performance major without buying my own horn. As a result I am not really certain about where to look, and how to ask around for people who may have a horn they don't need or would like to see them get used. How does one begin the search for a horn?
On the other hand what types of horns should I even consider? I've been brought up on Loree, and have played a greenline for the last two years. I have enjoyed both ( the greenline more than the Loree after I got used to it's larger sound). My intent is to gain a horn that has good qualities for wind ensemble literature and for orchestral literature as well. My budget is around $4500 but I can squeeze a little higher if necessary. I need to get my own horn because I have been accepted by two programs for a master's program in oboe performance!
Thanks for your time and for reading!
P.S. If you are actually looking to sell or get rid of your horn I would be interested in learning more.
