Hello!
I've only recently started to investigate the various possibilities in shaper tips. I'm from The Netherlands, meaning that my reedmaking customs are different from most other countries. For example, the Dutch reedstyle uses 42 mm klopfer tubes; in an effort/experiment to move towards a more international sound and style, I've changed to 44 mm some years ago.
Anyway, about the shaper tip, like most people, I bought the one my teacher at the time recommended to me. Only now am I realising that a lot of the problems I encounter may be due to the shape I use. It's a Lorée 2 shape, which seems to be extremely wide at the tip compared to the shapes I see googling around the world. In Holland it is quite a normal shape, however. The tip measures 7,7 mm in width.
My question, does anyone know a good online knowledge base/site with accurate shaper tip measurements and comparisons?
Thanx! Chris
