The Oboe BBoard

Lately, I've really been working on the fundamentals of my playing and decided I would focus on one issue I've had for a while: sharpness in the upper register. I have a gorgeous sound and am pretty well in tune from low Bb to around second octave G. Above that, it is usually quite sharp when I am supporting the reed enough to get a sound that I like. I've been experimenting with a tuner and have found that when the needle is in the middle it doesn't feel or sound as though the reed is supported. When I feel like I'm really supporting it with my diaphragm, the sound is gorgeous BUT sharp. Is the issue that my reeds don't provide enough resistance for me, or could it be something else? I've been playing oboe for three years and use handmade medium strength reeds.
Thanks!
