I have taken over the instruction of a teenage girl in her fourth year of playing. Nice sound, good tuning, average reading, but quiet as a mouse and no confidence. Her previous teacher rarely played with or for her, and that just isn't me! Kids love duets and often learn matching in terms of tone/tuning/volume as a by product they are't aware of (learning by osmosis, if you must), so I have said we will play a few duets for fun.
I want to make some of her repertoire a bit more 'relevant' to her, and play some 'real life' duets. Stuff she could hear being played by pros if she listened to a recording. I tried to rack my brain for famous orchestral oboe duets, and came up with just the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra one (doable) and the Pictures 'Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks' (not doable for this level).
Can anyone think of any others, especially that may be downloadable on Petrucci? Preferably two oboes and not oboe/cor (although those suggestions might be valid down the track).
Thanks!
Rachel
