I'm looking into getting a new oboe but I don't have a lot of money to spend on one. I would like to get a very good one though, not a student model. I'm guessing that the Barrington is intermediate/pro after seeing all the features it has (3rd octave, Bb resonance, ect).
Would this be a worthy instrument to invest in? I want and oboe to last me throughout college and beyond possibly (without having to upgrade to a very expensive one).
Or, does anyone have recs. for another good (non student) fairly inexpensive oboe?
What brands are the best? I've looked at most of the bigger brands (Fox, Loree; both of which are quite pricey). What other brands specialize in good quality oboes? What about Buffet? They have wonderful clarinets but how about oboes?
The ones I'm looking at now are the Barrington, Lorilee 400W, and Buffet 3613.
Thanks!!!
