For those of you who are studying by the Barrets Oboe Method, did y’all know that the IDRS.org has Barrets recordings available for download for members? The formats are in .MP3 and .MUS (for Finale and Finale Notepad {a free player}).
I have recently downloaded all of these and have found them to be very helpful, especially in how to play the ornaments, turns, trills, etc., (at least by one person’s perspective). In addition, it’s really nice to have them as an accompaniment to the Progressive Melodies. The Melodies have actually become quite lovely, #6 and #11 are really great fun. The harmonies (both in treble and bass clef) really make the oboe parts come to life!!! This really has opened up new doors for me and I’m excited to have discovered these recordings.
Just an FYI for those of you going this route.
