Apparently no one has any list of Leblanc serial number prior to 1964. I did find a website (picture attached) indicating 1950-1953 serial numbers began with #1135. Serial number on my Dynamique is 713 !! So I assume it was made prior to 1950. I'd like to pin down the date my clarinet was made just for my own knowledge. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

Early Leblanc serial numbers are very strange, and there seems to be different sequences. All those records were destroyed in a factory fire in 1968.
Your horn is more likely from somewhere around 1953-1955.
Also I question the info on that website, 8xxx seems much too low for 1964.

Thanks ghoulcaster. Seems that serial numbers are a problem for a lot of manufacturers. I'd forgotten about the Leblanc fire in '68. What a pity.

True. However, I have seen photos of a Leblanc L300 with serial 21xxx. An instrument of a model that was introduced in 1982 had a 1964 serial number! The simplest reasonable explanation I can think of is that this was an early prototype that was built from an old body that had gotten a serial number but never made it through the production.
