I'm sorry to hear that he is gone. I didn't know of him before but from looking at the facebook page he seems like a really good person.

I met Mr Bocaner once, in 1997 at either an ICA or the OK Symposium. He heard me play bass clarinet (for a contemporary piece as part of the host recital, Dr Etheridge wasn't fond of modern music but for about 3 years in a row let me hijack his host recital with multiphonics etc)
He came up after the performance to ask after my mouthpiece etc and was very encouraging, while asking penetrating questions and giving some quite good advice.
I did not play bass clarinet much after I returned to NZ in 1998, but around 2009/2010 started working on it again, playing both orchestra gigs and contemporary music. While I had bass lessons with some fine players over the years, oddly enough the things we discussed in that 10min one summer long past have stuck in the forefront over the last decade.
It may be that he didn't even remember our meeting but his thoughtful and searching observations have remained with me.
