International Clarinet Association: Philippe Cuper new honorary member

The eminent French clarinetist, Philippe Cuper, has be awarded honorary membership to the Internation Clarinet Associaton for lifetime achievement. -a well -deserved award! He was for over 40 years principal clarinet of the Paris Opera and has substituded in the Berlin Philharmonic. A long career exploring the repertoire, teaching, playing and spreading joy among audiences and students. To top it all off, he is a real historian of the clarinet and gives delightful lectures on clarinetists of the past.

I got to stand next to him in a queue at Clarinetfest 2006 (I think that's when it was, might have been 2003) and chatted with him for about 15min, a seriously nice guy who was just very very earnest about MUSIC (rather than about the clarinet).
