I have a Bb clarinet mouthpiece custom faced by a Bob Marid. It is 1 line up and 3 lines down which is probably a Buffet Chedeville blank and it also has .045 scribe to the right at the bottom of the table and a large C/C scribe where the logo on the back should be. Maybe the hand scribe says Bob Marid. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

Are you sure the name on the mouthpiece is Bob Marid and not Bob Mario?
Mouthpiece tech Bob Mario in California during the 1970s produced a model under his own name, sometimes using the kind of blank you describe. His mouthpieces were used by some Hollywood studio players and, as I recall, Russianoff recommended them (along with Hites and Vandorens).

It surely must be the late Bob Mario who played flute, clarinet and piccolo in the Disney studios in the 1950s. He played on a lot of cartoon features which had hard woodwind parts. Mario lived in an apartment in Hollywood in the 1950s where I visited him and he worked on a mouthpiece I had, filing out some material in the bore under the table, making it brighter.
Later, he moved to the Burbank area, I recall, as I visited him there also. He had a lot of mouthpiece customers and kept a file of measurements of the mouthpieces he worked on. He was also a serious repair person of flutes, clarinets, and saxophones. One of his tricks was to put a piece of kitchen sink sponge in the low Eb or C hole on saxes for tuning purposes. After many years of playing, teaching, and repairing, he was moved to a retirement home where he passed on.

Thanks so much. It is indeed a Bob Mario mouthpiece. I purchased it from someone in Hollywood, California so that all fits. It is in great shape. If it sold for $50.00 in 1975 as research indicates that would be $227.00 today so $199.00 is the correct selling price today. Thanks very much for the info. I really appreciate it.
