Just saw the Australian Chamber Orchestra playing at Bing hall at Stanford. Martin Frost was supposed to play the Mozart concerto, but he sustained a shoulder injury; luckily Charles Neidich was able to step in. Really enjoyed hearing the concerto on basset clarinet; many passages just seem to make more sense with the additional low range. Was bummed that Frost wasn't able to perform, but I enjoyed Neidich's rendition as well.
His basset was interesting as well- it was a modern instrument, but with the inward-turned bell of historical instruments. His instruments are made by Schwenk und Segglke, correct?
