Hello,
I am sad to inform you that I just learned that Ben Armato, long-time clarinetist with the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, passed away this morning. In addition to being a superior musician, he was one of the most loving and nicest people I have ever met. I am proud to have called him a friend.

yes, Ben was a consummate clarinetist and gentleman.
Despite his physical limitation, he made every effort to answer questions and offer advice, both of which were noteworthy information.
The clarinet community owes a note of gratitude for his designing the REED WIZARD which could balance a reed better than I could ever do by hand.

I knew Ben as a friend for many years and he was one of the most kind hearted people I have met. At shows and conventions he would spend a lot of time coaching and tutoring aspiring clarinet players to improve their skills. He is missed.
