Hey everyone!
Have any of you had experience with reform eefers? I'm very curious about how their bore handles in pitch stability and sonority compared to more traditional French ebs. Of course, they're quite rare :( if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them!

Hi James,
I certainly have never tried a German Eb before, but I've listened to quite a few before. They seem to project further than the French instruments, while sounding more eccentric. One good example is Wolfgang Meyer, brother of Sabine Meyer. Listen to his solos from the Lucerne Festival Orchestra's Mahler 3 with Claudio Abbado.
Another thing to note is that the reeds they use, some makers say they use the same reeds of French Eb/German Bbs, but other pointed out they have their own even smaller reeds of 9mm.
As an intense researcher of German clarinets, and the owner of a German bass clarinet, in my knowledge and experience German clarinets are more stable in intonation though(to some players) less flexible than French clarinets. But it all comes down to what the player wants to make the final decision.
P.S. kindly allow me to make a slight correction: Though I do not know whether French clarinets or German clarinets existed earlier, I would not say French clarinets are more traditional than German clarinets. It would be slightly better to say that French clarinets are more common than German clarinets.
