I thought I'd start a new thread for this...
I've compiled a clarinet part for Peter and the Wolf. It utilizes clarinets in Bb and A and most of the page turns work well (couldn't do anything about the last one). I was able to look at the score online to make sure it was free of errors (and boy, did the existing IMSLP parts have errors and omissions, especially the part in A). I'll be giving it a test run at rehearsal tonight to make sure it really is error-free.
If anyone would like a copy, please send me an e-mail and I'll send you a .pdf (or Finale 2010 file if you prefer). I do have a couple things to add to it (numbers for all the repeating measures and small stuff like that), but I wanted something to work with at rehearsal tonight.
Thanks!

Hmmm.....I prefer the original part in A and can't imagine how transposing to Bb would be any advantage. Additionally, I have detected only one glaring error in the A part, the rest being fine. What, specifically, did you find wrong??

Like William, I have played the part probably a hundred times (doing it again this summer a few more times) and never saw the need for a Bb transposition. Depending on edition there is at least one error in the A part, but fairly obvious.

The A transposition I used was the part available on IMSLP. I'm sure there are other editions and they're better, but the parts online were the only ones that our group had access to (by the time it was added to the program, it was too late to rent it from Schirmer and our librarian didn't know of any other place to get it; he said he was under the impression that it wasn't available from Kalmus anymore).
In that part (I'm sure there are better editions, but this is all I had to work with for an A clarinet part):
~ The whole note in m. 152 and the half note in m. 153 should be F, not A.
~ The notes in m. 176 were left out and just included into the block of rests. They're the same notes that are in m. 183.
~ m. 321, canceled accidental that shouldn't have been canceled (both E's are natural, second one is flatted).
~ The second B in m. 492 should have a flat next to it to cancel the natural on the first beat.
~ The trill in m. 536 is a whole step trill instead of a half step trill.
~ The whole notes in m. 539 and m. 540 should be F# and F (they were left out and written as a 2-bar rest).
~ The 4th beats of m. 566 and 567 should be D, not G.
~ The 3rd beats of m. 578-581 should be G, not Bb.
A lot of the reason for writing some of it in Bb was to get around the double flats and to make some of the key signatures easier to deal with.

It's not available from Kalmus because it is no longer in the public domain.
Unless there was no publicity for this performance, your librarian should expect a nasty letter from Schirmer, along with a hefty bill.
If people like him keep abusing IMSLP, the next law suit against them *will* be successful, and then no one will be able to access the wealth of information they provide.
But for now it appears to have saved him from his own incompetence.

Hi everyone,
For everyone that I sent parts to already, cross out the accidental in measure 295 (an E natural got in there and I neglected to fix it during my final edit, sorry). Everything else is fine.
