 High F# to G trill

[F#6] to [G6]:

I can sorta get middle left finger [F#6] without right pinky to [G6] using right hand lowest trill key on upper half of clarinet---not so good for sustaining [G6] though.

Other ideas?

The standard fingering for F# is sharp, and the sliver key fingering for G is flat. Take your little finger off the Ab/Eb key and trill with the bottom two side keys.

Alternatively, play the F# with the "long" fingering, like F but with the Ab/Eb key, and experiment with which finger movements will produce the G.

Or use an alternate fingering for G (there are at least a dozen) and experiment to find which finger movement get you to F#.

Or play G with the fingering for B5 [B5] plus the top trill key or top two trill keys and experiment.

So, in one of your options Ken that involves use of the right hand trill keys of the upper joint, your advocating use of the bottom TWO trill keys, to make it to the [G6] while trilling, not just the bottom of these trill keys. Ok. Will try. Thanks.

At the end of the of the trill, when I need to sustain the [G6], I can always play it with a more conventional fingering.

My current favorite is starting with an F# fingered: thumb, register, 1st and 2nd finger of left; (right hand) last side key and Ab/Eb vent. Then for the "G" just raise the second finger of the left hand.

Super easy for most situation, well in tune and fast.
