The music shop that I purchase my reeds from has finally gotten new stock this past year, and I've noticed that the Vandoren reeds now come with a unique serial number on the back. Incidentally, now that this is the only stock that the music shop carries rather than the old reed design that used purely black ink, I've also noticed these newer reeds tend to die a lot faster than the black-ink version--instead of turning white from being calcified, they begin to turn a darkish-tan color when they get old. What's up with that?
Is it just me, or has Vandoren changed their line of reed production altogether? Are there any reed brands similar to what Vandoren used to offer? Or have I just been buying a bunch of boxes with bad reeds? (Which is something I could totally see happening truthfully. Hah)
Thanks!
