Everyone's input is greatly appreciated!
If you had to choose two contrasting pieces for a master's audition, what would you go with? Memorized or Not?
Also... if you only audition on the soprano do you think its possible to still take an assistanship position?

If you feel comfortable memorizing your music and can play it at least as musical as reading it then do it, there's no reason not to but it's not neccessary for most schools. And it depends of the school as to whether they offer an assistantship if you only play soprano clarinet. I believe most schools don't requre multiple clarinets but it would be wise for you to learn bass and Eb for your future. Read my website on that subject.

I'm prepping for grad auditions too right now, and I would just go to all of your school's websites and find a program that will fit the needs of all of them. For example, one school that I'm auditioning at simply requires 30 minutes of music, at least one piece of which needs to be memorized, and another school requires a complete concerto, so I'm playing...
Weber 2nd (Memorized)
Debussy
Messiaen
...as well as excerpts, etudes and scales. I don't think that unless it specifies from memory you should really worry about it. If they expected things from memory, they'd tell you.

One question: when you need play two contrasting pieces, this mean one most technic and other interpretative?
And the Debussy's Rhapsody is technic or interpretative? or both? xD
