Just looking for some advice as to what would be a good Eb clarinet ligature. I've been starting to play more and more Eb, and I think it's time to upgrade from the stock buffet ligature. I'm looking for something on the lower end of the price spectrum, because I dont have too much to spend or the liberty to drive to Boston to try a bunch, so if I end up not liking it I won't have blown too much cash on it. On Bb, I use a vandoren optimum, and I like the metal feel. But I'm not opposed to trying fabric either. Any suggestions would be great!

I'm currently using a Rovner Versa, but I think I prefer the Optimum. But either brand would be a good choice.

is it possible to use a Bb clarinet BG revelation ligature on Eb? Or wont it do up tight enough? I play vandoren optimum ligatures on both Bb and Eb and love them, especially with the four corner dots plate insert.

String would be cheapest, but can make changing reeds quickly and easily a pain if you have to undo it and retie it again haha.

Experiment and see what works best for you

you might be surprised to find string more than just cheaper. Or maybe not. Just be sure to try it

It's actually funny you all mentioned the string, because that's what I've been using for the past week or so. I do like it, but like it was mentioned, it's a hassle to put on and off, and once I choose a reed I'm pretty much stuck with it the rest of rehearsal

I use a BG gold metal ligature. It is very good. Best Eb ligature I have ever tried.
