I recently acquired an Evette and Schaeffer clarinet that I really do not know much about. The Serial Number appears to be K19806. I've scouted out a few websites and can't seem to put the number to the correct model type. The clarinet is in pretty good shape; however, we do not have the case. Does anyone know what I have and what the value might be? Thanks

The serial number list on this website (under Equipment: How Old is My...) puts your clarinet between 1966 and 1969, IMO very good years for this model. The Buffet website puts the date of manufacture at July 26, 1968.
At the time it was made, your clarinet was a high-end intermediate model, next in line to the R13. It is the predecessor to the current E13. In average condition, I estimate it would probably bring $200 - $250 on eBay but it's probably a better instrument than anything you can buy for $250 nowadays, depending on how much work it will need to make it sing.

I notice that you live in Western Canada. I sometimes have the feeling that clarinets price a little higher here. If you are looking for some Canadian input, you could try talking with Don Geisbrecht at the Brass and Woodwind Shop in Victoria (he has a web-site as well). He is very knowledgeable (and also does good work).
I own a K-series Evette and Schaeffer from the early 1970s. It's a lovely instrument and a joy to play. (Jack, I researched many of your comments about this clarinet on the Bboard and they have been very helpful - thank you!). I've been told several times that it's a fine instrument and plays as well as an R-13 (its professional cousin). If your clarinet is in good condition it may be a real find. Good luck!

The gentleman that headed the service dept. for the company that had the Buffet franchise for many years, told me years ago that the K series Evettes were actually R 13s that were relegated to Evette status because of some minor flaw (often undetectable) that had no effect on the playability of the instruments. Many of my students had the benefit of an R13 without the price. They were fine instruments.

When I was in undergrad, at one point I had an Evette Master Model (before my current set of R13s). I'm not sure if it was K-series or not (I think maybe not since I don't remember a K being there, but I really don't remember either way). It didn't say Evette and Schaeffer, just Evette.

The Evette Master Model was a step below the Evette-Sc'haeffer Model. It was a decent clarinet. I played one for a few years (my wife's old instrument) before I got my Ridenour Lyrique, which fixed a number of tuning issues I had with the Evette.
