Hello,
In Canada we have Schneider meat cpy.
There is a commercial where a young woman goes through time while walking
a street. It shows a Gremlin car, a camero SS and finally she is in the 1940's.
Anyhow, through all of this, you hear a clarinet being played as the background
music. It is definitely older jazz swing type music, but not a very fast tune.
Would anyone know the name of this song.
You can see it on You Tube; a lot of people are actually asking the name of this
tune on the You Tube site, but with no answer.
The woman in the commercial is actress, singer Carly Jones.
If you type in Schneider commercial 2013 or Schneider commercial Carly Jones
on You Tube it will lead you right to it. it should say Carly Jones- Schneider
commercial May 2013.
Thanks,
Ronald

Hmmmm, don't know the chart, but it does sound like the Benny Goodman Trio from the 30's right down to a Teddy Wilson tinkly intro.
Hope some one knows the name of this one.

Ok, this one is killing me. I spent some time pouring over Teddy Wilson/Benny Goodman recordings on YOUTUBE which only has me more convinced that the pianist is Teddy Wilson though I'm not too sure about the clarinet anymore. There is an album of Teddy Wilson with a Japanese clarinetist by the name of Eiji Kitamura but I haven't found a way to search that album's selections.
Harumph.

Well, it seems that many people are trying to figure this one out, including
the comments on the YouTube video.
Someone suggested having heard this on a Nero Wolfe episode.
I found some of the music that was played on the series and it turns out that
Artie Shaw was features at least once.
Perhaps there is a preference there. Unless this was written specifically for an
episode, in which I doubt as it sounds too authentic to the period.
I am contacting the Schneider meat cpy by Email. Who knows.
must find what this catchy little tune is.

Why not write to the meat company and ask them? I find companies are always forthcoming to questions like that I have asked before.

Hello, I did better then write to the company.
I phoned them and they have just phoned me back.
It is not authentic, it was written just for the commercial.
It is written by a musician from Toronto named Grayson Matthews.
the name of the tune is Martiniville. Nothing to do with the Martiniville band on Youtube.
In fact, no other info is available pertaining to this particular tune.
the lady told me that he is classically trained. I don't know if clarinet is his instrument .
He has written many commercial music for companies all over the world.
He is on facebook Grayson Matthews music.
And on the net Grayson Matthews.com
and also on ITunes.
That certainly is some authentic era sounding music.
So, there you go, mystery solved.
Cheers,
Ronald
