Just a note to all.
The Vandoren company just sent me a letter that tells me to sell as quickly as possible all of the old box style, Vandoren traditional reeds for Bb clarinet and alto sax strengths 2 ½. 3 and 3 ½.
The Chinese have successfully duplicated the outside of their old box, that is, the small one that uses the plastic holders for the reeds, NOT the new packaging that uses individual wrappers for every reed. The new boxes are significantly bigger. These counterfeit reeds are being sold on the internet at very low prices but the boxes contain Chinese reeds, not Vandoren reeds. They are only selling the Traditional style clarinet and alto sax ones and only in those few strengths. Please beware of whom you purchase your reeds from, make sure it’s a reputable dealer.

I just wonder why on earth they should be counterfeiting Vandoren reeds. That'd be like counterfeiting Vietnamese whisky or English chocolate.

The dead giveaway would be an "official" date stamp, indicating that the reeds are at least sixteen years old. If so, they are the Chinese (gymnast) version.
