Thanks for your feedback.

To clarify - in the 5th variation could you please let me know if you think the following is a editorial mistake or is meant to be? :

5th variation: The opening has an 8 bar phrase which is repeated again. When it is repeated, in the 4th bar, instead of Ab for the last note in the 4th bar, the second time round has A natural. is it meant to be different? Is the 4th bar in the phrase meant to have a different note to the 4th bar in the first phrase. xxxxxAb in the 4th bar of first phrase, xxxxxA natural in the 4th bar second phrase??. key: x = note.

In the first variation like someone as well I pointed out, in the recap of the main melody, there are some differences in the boosey and hawkes edition. when it comes back after the quazi cadenza, there's a leap of G-C in quavers in the third or something bar, where as it has Ab-c in the opening. Also some bars down the track, in the recap of the 1st variation, it is toungued instead of slurred as it is when it comes around the first time.

Can you please tell me if it's editorial mistakes or meant to be different?? thanks

I had a look in the piano score today, and its actually the Ab in the 4th bar of the first statement that is wrong. The piano score has concert G natural all throughout both the 4th bar of the variation and the 4th bar of the re-statement. So the mistake is actually in the 4th bar of the variation, just cross out the flat and you should be right!

Var. 5-I see 2 10-bar phrases. In measure 4 the clarinet part is different from the piano score, probably a mis-transposition. There should probably be 2 A naturals in bar 4 and in bar 14.
Var. 1-The score has concert G to concert Bb both times (bars 3 and 18 before var. 2). The part appears to be wrong. In bar 11 before var. 2 in the score the viola part is slurred but not the cl. part. This is probably an omission and should be slurred. Always check the score- transposition errors are very common.
