Why would a reed manufacturer change blank thickness from batch to batch? Grand Concert Evolution have done it and so have Xilema Professional - these two have got thicker than they used to be. The thick cane feels strange and porous. I haven't decided if they play the same yet.

Are you referring to recent batch or comparing a batch from say 4 years ago to the current ones?

The original Evolution was not as thick as they are today - I actually prefer them now to the original ones. I like a thick reed as long as it isn't more porous.

disclaimer: I'm an artist for the Evolution Reed (and the Reserve also).

 David -

With the Evolution, yeah, I mean a batch from a few years back. They were printed in dark blue ink on the back.

Can anyone else comment on the newer version of the Evolution Reed compared with the older version (which was thinner and printed with dark blue text)?

Cheers.
