 Goodness me, that is quite impressive progress.  It sounds like she has been working on control and on tonguing very hard.   
 
I am assuming this is her and not you! 
 
 
 
Question though (and this is absolutely not a criticism directed at you), why are beginners books full of such dull music?!

 I agree with D, there are a lot of great things going on.   Good rhythm, articulation and finger coordination. 
 
The standards of excellence books are full of easily recognizable and simple melodies.  It does drive one a bit crazy after a while...that's one (of many) reasons why I don't teach with those books.

 Thanks very much!  Yes it is my daughter, she has been playing all school year,   initially practicing almost daily, and with a private lesson weekly, with "band and strings" twice a week, but is now learning on her own and is finding time only 3-4 times/week (but with encouragement to practice more!). 
 
I've been meaning to get some other music mentioned here, the Yamaha and other books.  Maybe I will find time this week to do so.  Thanks all, we are very proud of her as well! 
 
(She's also teaching me, and our younger 7 yr. old!)
