Does anyone have problems with moisture buildup on a legere reed causing the clarinet to not respond and squeek? I alway have this problem and I have to take the reed off only after a few minutes and dry it off. When I put it back it plays ok until moisture builds up again. Is there a better solution to this problem than having to the reed off all the time?

I usually just suck sharply, then the drops are gone.
Just for a test, swipe the mouthpiece side of the reed over your forehead - the tallow there may change the wetting characteristics a tiny bit.

KristinVanHorn,
I use Legere reeds, but have not had this problem very often and certainly no more than with cane reeds.
Sometimes blowing from the side of the mouthpiece, instead of into the end, will move the moisture out of the way.
It may help to develop a habit of swallowing more frequently to reduce the moisture in your mouth.
Regards,
Hans

Don't drink milk, eat ice cream, dairy products before playing.
They are saliva generators...
I don't know how long the effects last. Any research?
