Does anybody know where I can try Moennig or Chadash Buffet barrels in Europe? They're not very common here and my local music stores don't stock them.

You can buy from Woodwind and Brasswind online (http://www.wwbw.com)
and have them send some to you to try. Then, you return what you don't want. I think they ship to Europe. Just need a major credit card.

A better question might be to ask if you're playing an R13. It's been well-ducumented that the Moennig barrel was invented to better match large-bore mouthpieces with the smaller-bore R13s. Is this a problem with your current mouthpiece/clarinet setup?

About Brenda's advice, just notice the (about) $30 shipping cost, the return shipping which you will need to pay, and the very high taxes.
By the way, if you order several barrles of course you will have to pay taxes on all of them, but is it possible to get the tax refunded for barrels you ship back? I know here no one will want to go into that birocracy.... even with the small chance of getting the money back (which I'm not sure is possible at all).

woodwind & brasswind also have a Paris shop, no need to order from the US.

Moenig inspired barrels by Forte can be purchased from a neighbor country, Germany.
If you purchase one from abroad by internet ordering, you may avoid(not evade) paying England tax(17.5%?).

What Scotti said! Absolutely the first thing I would have asked.

Different Options:
Go to www.buffet-crampon.com/ , search for DEALERS - Select country - Select City and look for the near local store specialized on woodwinds and Buffet Crampon. You have many in your country, as for example in Zürich: Musikhaus Bucher. Search for tel. numbers and E-mail. If they don't have, they should be able to let you know the near Buffet Official Distributor where you can go.
If you find that in Switzerland it is to difficult, the distribuitor can make appointment for you to go to Buffet Factory in Paris to try Moenning and Chadash barrels.
Many music stores in Spain they can send barrels to you in 24 hours (66 and 67 mm.), between 2 to 5 days (65 mm.), or 5 to 15 days (64, 63, mm.) depending of stock. Search at: www.riveramusica.com,
www.euromusicagarijo.com,...
If you have a friend in Paris, NY, LA, Madrid, Valencia, ... you can ask a favor to go to try a very good barrel for you.
All the best
VR.

Liquorice, do you mind saying where you are located? What country? That way maybe more of us could give you some specific advise.
And, I play on one of Allan's barrels. You might ask him about one for you.
Yes, you'll be out shipping expenses and taxes and whatever import fees might be involved with your country. A good barrel is a good thing.

Bucher, Zurich and Lohri in Lucerne are the two I'd try first.

Hi. Thanks for your replies. I live in Zurich, Switzerland. Lohri Luzern doesn't stock these barrels, but I hadn't thought of trying Bucher. Thanks for the suggestion.
I've just got hold of a nice old R-13. With my Vandoren mouthpieces the 12ths are much too big around E-B and F-C. I tried a Chadash barrel and it dramatically improved the tuning issues. But I wasn't crazy about what it did to the tone. I'd like to try several of these barrels to see if I can find a better solution.
Thanks for all your input.

I've been looking for a place that has Moennig barrels in stock (US) for almost a year now! WWBW, Muncy...all of them...none. I need Bb 66mm and A 65mm
Anyone found some within the last couple of months?
Thanks!
